حصلت روسيا على المركز الثالث في إنتاج القمح على مستوى العالم والمرتبة الأولى كأكبر مصدر للقمح في العالم. حيث تم إنتاج 77000 طن متري وتصدير 6.4 مليار دولار في عام 2019 أو ما يقرب من 17٪ من إجمالي صادرات القمح. على الرغم من أنه من المتوقع أن تظل روسيا أكبر مصدر للقمح للعام المقبل، فقد كان هناك انخفاض مطرد عن السنوات السابقة. والذي من المرجح أن يستمر.

تعد مصر أكبر دولة مستوردة للقمح في العالم. في عام 2015/2016، استوردت الدولة قمحًا ودقيقًا ومنتجات قمح بقيمة 11.5 طنًا متريًا. ما الذي يجعل مصر أكبر مسوردي القمح في العالم. كان الخبز هو السلعة الأكثر دعمًا في البلاد منذ مدة زمنية طويلة. كما يعتمد المطبخ المصري بشكل كبير على القمح ومنتجاته. مصر ليست أكبر مستورد للقمح فحسب، بل هي أيضًا أكبر مستهلك للقمح العالم.

مؤشر منظمة الأغذية والزراعة الفاو لأسعار القمح 2023

تقدم منظمة الأغذية والزراعة الفاو مجموعة من المعلومات حول أسعار القمح، حيث انخفضت توقعات الفاو لإنتاج الحبوب العالمي في عام 2022 بمقدار 4.9 مليون طن منذ الشهر الماضي وتبلغ الآن 2764 مليون طن، بانخفاض 1.8 في المائة (50.8 مليون طن) على أساس سنوي. يتعلق معظم الانخفاض هذا الشهر بالقمح، بينما كان هناك أيضًا تعديل صغير بالخفض لتوقعات الإنتاج العالمي للحبوب الخشنة. بدمج تخفيض قدره 3.4 مليون طن هذا الشهر، من المتوقع الآن أن يصل إنتاج القمح العالمي إلى 783.8 مليون طن في عام 2023. ولا يزال 0.6 في المائة (4.5 مليون طن) أعلى من نتائج عام 2022 وأعلى مستوى له على الإطلاق.
